The Music Theory Group Course follows the London College of Music’s Popular Music Theory syllabus with the intention of taking the student from complete beginner to Grade one level theory. These examinations offer a comprehensive and structured approach to studying the theory behind playing popular music.
For the first time, students of popular music can gain internationally recognised qualifications that are equivalent in stature to those available in the classical music education field.
The course will be delivered over ten one hour fortnightly sessions commencing early February and concluding early June and is suitable for all ages with no previous knowledge presumed. All students will have the option to sit the Grade One Popular Music Theory exam at my studio at 10am on Saturday June 16th 2012.
The group will consist of a maximum of six students and will focus on implamenting the theory into practise. The emphasis within this syllabus is upon the musical knowledge and information that you need in order to improve your playing, in all styles of popular music.

All topics are covered in a way that is directly relevant to the music you play, and the syllabus focuses very much upon how to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical music-making context.

- £15 per hour session
A £30 non-refundable deposit is reqired to secure a place on the course which will provide the student with the Popular Music Theory Grade One handbook and exam entry. Students have the option to pay the course fee upfrount or monthly.
